I like that we get an "Arab" American hero. Have there been ones before ?•• Must have! I just hope, with Ahmed, I will be able to sidestep the clichés!

What do you consider to be cliches? Type of things like the use of camels and gold?

Read this again last night...
Great comics, period.
The reporter with the hat & moustache cracks me up.
The scene where #3 transforms reminds me so much of something from the Amazing Spider-Man Andru/Espo period! I see it and emote the Sandman or the Lizard into #3's place!! Classic turmoil! AND, if I still find that riveting after 35+ years of comics reading, then the NEW peeps should be hooked instantly.
Intrigued by #2's phone call! Synthezoids cannot love, right, so, there's that....:) AND, I snickered at the sadly necessary description of #2's uniform coloring. Let there be no doubts. :)
I love #3's feet. Like claws on a dino!
Let's go with issue 2, already!

Re: Arab superheroes, I recall a young Quraci (fictional country, I know. But still...) hero named Sinbad from the Superman books in the 90s. I think he reappeared with a new name during the "Grounded" storyline. Kurt Busiek introduced a character named Scirocco and a villain named Khyber during his run on SUPERMAN. He left the book before doing much with either of them. They remain in limbo to this day.

The link to the JB/Sinnot cover art auction is cool because you can zoom in on the art. Joe still has a steady hand!

I'm very eager for the next issue and to, eventually, learn the origin of this team.
And I agree: Nautilus is cool! Looking forward to seeing more of him, too!

(I very much enjoyed Scirocco, mostly because I had a VDub sports car....had...sniff.)
Nautilus, in the hands of this JB guy, is perfect. I can't even dream up the possibilities we could be heading, and am enjoying the ride.
The artwork is so great. Once again, I'm amazed at the textures and details. That scene on the ship, the first few panels ...man, I was right THERE.

I was rereading Trio #1 when I realized that in every panel where number one appears she doesn't show her legs or her feet so I've been wondering if it is a coincidence or not.

Something I borrowed from Kirby. Avoids having to show how odd they'd look, probably all pretzeled around some convenient object to act as a tether. And, speaking of such things, here's a non-spoiler page from issue 3…
