Looking at the entire collection, it is pretty cool that all the characters have different poses and aren't mostly facing one particular direction.

Two villains that I have a lot of fondness for.

I like the way you've captured the way the Scorpion's nose was originally depicted!

The Scorpion's right arm & hand definitely conjures the feel of Ditko.

I would have thought that the Scorpion would have been a natural to have featured as a villain in one of the Spider-Man movies, but there you go.

The Ditko squint on Scorpion is uncanny!

I first met the Scorpion in a Captain America comic drawn by Gene Colan.

I think Cap takes a few lumps there, and Scorpio was pretty scary! I didn´t like to read that comic!

Let me start out thanking JB for doing this series of commissions. Each new addition makes me more and more giddy as a school boy. The Scorpion is spot on Ditko with a pose that epitomises a real scorpion. The Beetle is one of my favorite characters and designs. I absolutely love it. These commissions are the best part of my art collection. Thanks, JB. I truly appreciate this.

Pulling out the first appearance, to do this drawing, one of the things I noticed that I had not before, is that the Scorpion has no eyebrows!

My pleasure, Paul. These have been a lot of fun to work on. Challenging in ways I really enjoy. I'll be sorry to see the series come to an end.

(Remind me, did you intend to stop when Ditko leaves?)

We had spoken about stopping it when Ditko leaves, but I am more than willing to keep going into Romita territory if you are. Whatever you are comfortable with.

It is interesting that in Gargan's first few panel appearances he has eyebrows, but after they shave his head and give him his powers he has the appearance of a person with alopecia. I wonder if that was one of those things lost in Ditko's plot to Stan's writing?

There was a lot of recycling in the early days of Romita's run. His first twenty-odd issues gave us only three new villains, the Rhino, the Shocker and the Kingpin. Four, if you count the second Vulture.

Your call!

I hope it keeps going! I love seeing JB's take on the early versions of these characters.

Maybe Ditko intended that the big zap of energy Gargan got made his hair fall out?
