Dale Lerette: Hmmm...the original almost reminds me of Dexter. But the more opened eyes in the recent one (35 years later) looses that scowl in his eyes. Interesting work.

Ted Pugliese: Hah! I see Dexter and Orion too!

Funnily enough, there are the occasional moments in DEXTER when a certain look flashes across Michael C. Hall's face and I can't help but think 'Wolverine'.

Always thought DC missed a bet by not stranding that version of Timber Wolf in the 20th Century and a solo book.

Who had that Timber Wolf hair first? There was Eros of Titan, but way before him was the Owl in Daredevil, only without the crazy widow's peak. Before that- the Hammer films werewolf?

I like both drawings, though I'm not sure I see the same face.  I'd almost like to see both faces together, maybe as a pair of brothers or something.

Timber Wolf's costume wouldn't be a bad one for Wolverine.

Besides the examples you cited, there was also Color Kid in the Legion of Substitute Heroes:

Cockrum also used a bit of the Wolverine character he'd designed for the Legion when he did the unmasked version of the Marvel Wolverine:
