From OHOTUM Deluxe:
I know next to nothing about ROM, but it seems odd to me that the human half of the character is the one that gets the focus in the main illustration.

Never underestimate the stupidity of movie executives, Kip... hasn't there been talk for years (possibily turning into an urban legend) that Universal, back in 1977, was going to sue 20th Century Fox and George Lucas because "Jawas" was a term they felt would be confused with the title "JAWS?" Paramount execs claiming that "ROM" infringes somehow on "Romulans" is totally in keeping with this sorry tradition!

It seems like that would be an easy one to overcome, since it stands for READ ONLY MEMORY.

That made sense to me. He was no longer a Spaceknight at that point, right?

That would certainly explain it.

I know next to nothing about ROM, but it seems odd to me that the human half of the character is the one that gets the focus in the main illustration. +++++++++++ I believe that this was because the Deluxe OHOTMU was published after Rom regained his humanoid form, and so that was the then-current version of the character. If I'm not mistaken, the first edition of OHOTMU featured his cyborg form only, since that was published before the end of Rom's series.

Greg, you're correct. (Also note stuff like Johnny Blaze appearing in the series as "Blaze, Johnny" rather than "Ghost Rider.")

Who'd love to own this sculpt of the Marvel Comics version of ROM (as opposed to the original toy)? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee-m3Yjpbf0&feature=g-vre c&context=G2a59244RVAAAAAAAAAA I know I would! Not too shabby at all!

There are some great Rom kits out there. I've always wanted one, but what I REALLY want is to have one that is chrome... no silver for me, I want that bad-boy chromed.... I want to see my face in Rom!
