Yeah, it's a cool piece. Very happy about that, as at the time it was the most I'd spent on art done at a convention...
BTW, here's a link to the last ROM thread, if anyone wants a refresher on JB's memories of Steve Ditko:

I'll be honest- I hated the Ditko issues. Totally felt let down by the art. I was 11 when Marvel gave him the book, and I felt the art was terrible, and the inkers didn't help. The only inker who I felt really fleshed out Ditko's pencils was JB.These days I think the Ditko issues are pretty good!
I have a couple of Sal ROM pages. If I get the time, I'll scan them in...

Would you mind reminding me what the ROM sketch (on page 5 of this thread) was all about? What was it drawn for?•• If memory serves, Marvel was thinking about redesigning ROM's armor.

Dave, that is an ultra cool Sienkiewicz. I'm jealous as well. I don't have any original art. I need to start a collection.

Careful!! .............................................. Rabbit Hole? I have a lot of movie posters framed. Most people would fall over if they knew how much I have invested in that. And they have no value what so ever. At least with original comic art, they will be worth something later. Not that I would sell them, I have never sold a single comic I have, and not to brag, but I have some valuable ones. I am going to get JB to do a commission, but I want the cover of 141 and I keep getting the mental image of JB going...Oh no, NOT AGAIN!

The only inker who I felt really fleshed out Ditko's pencils was JB. I thought the same...and actually still do. ROM was far from Ditko's best work (IMO). The combo with JB was really good though! And Sal's stuff was always strong. His storytelling ability is amazing.

ROM's acting felt very dead to me...

Sal brought some subtle acting to the character. That blank face didn't give ANYONE a lot to work with, but Sal would twist the neck and tip the head up or down in ways that made ROM feel more alive to me...
