Also, apparently from the comments on that page, fans nowadays just don;t get what Spidey Super Stories was all about.  It was fun, non-threatening stories for the youngest of readers, not for the youngest comics fans - more like their younger siblings.

I was a pre-teen when they started publishing them, but a little to old to enjoy them, but I still read an occasional issue when it had a character I really liked showing up.

Doom hasn't struck me as being especially formidable since JB's run.  Too often he's been written as a stooge for the schemes of other villains.  Take that scene above with Arcade: if I was Doom and Arcade called me "Vic", I'd have incinerated the little ***** on the spot.

Certainly, the Squirrel-Girl scene proves that no character is writer-proof.

I just found a creepy Doom costume -- posted it in the Ben Cooper thread...

This might be the best Doom cover of all time (imho)!!! I would LOVE to see JB reimagine it in a commission...

Without doubt, the worst Doom has been portrayed was when Bendis wrote him and he called Ms Marvel  a cow  or a slag or some such. Truly horrible and showed that Bendis just couldn't think outside of his street level mentality.

I wonder if anybody has gotten the Doctor right within the last decade or so?  I don't know for certain, because I haven't followed any of the comics since quitting them in 2004.

My memories of Doctor Doom are shaped by how he was written in the pages of Fantastic Four, from the beginnings up through the years that John Byrne was the hand behind the comicbook panels.  I saw some pretty funky Doom appearances in other comics, but very few people ever seemed to get him right.  I can see why John wrote that little "rebuttal" to his team-up with Arcade in those issues of Uncanny X-Men later.

Any example I can think of Dr. Doom being poorly written has been covered.  So has his appearances vs. X-men.  I would like to see the following though.
INTER-COMPANY - vs. the Wolfman/Perez Teen Titans.
VILLAIN - vs. Ultron
