I just thought of something fun Paper can do when battling criminals (I don't believe I saw this posted earlier here)...origami!

••

I think that would fall under the heading of "OW!"

(And since she is of Japanese heritage, you KNOW someone would leap to read "racist" overtones into it!)

I thought you might use Paper for reconnaissance missions that way.

That short hair style does make her look Japanese to me.

Regarding "OW", hey, it's comics and, if done by you, could be believable.

As for the raciest tone, I hope I did not come across this way, because I sincerely did not mean to.  I admit that I did put "paper/Japanese" together for my origami idea, but it was more in the idea of a culture being represented by something associated with them.

With this point being brought up, isn't there characters whose powers are tied into their nationality/culture, such as Shamrock?  Or characters from U.N. Force?

Speaking as a person of Japanese heritage, I totally suck at doing origami... ;)

Kinda reminds me of that one interview with Roger Stern about the Monique Rambeau Captain Marvel / Photon character...  He was asked by fan that if she was from New Orleans, why wasn't she into voodoo?  I believe Roger's reply was that the closest thing to chicken bones she ever dabbled with was KFC.

I believe it was.

It's not the way I would have chosen to say Monica wasn't involved with
voodoo, but I get what Mr. Stern was saying.

Oh, and I'm interested to see what Rock looks like when not in his
"stoney" form.

That particular "reveal" presented me with a minor challenge in the first issue. Since I'd decided to "hit the ground running", without an origin issue per se, I had to treat pretty much everything as if the series had been running for a while. Which means I had to find a way to show what Rock looks like in human for in a way that would "surprise" the first issue readers, but would not seem too contrived for a "hundredth issue".

Origami has already been done anyway with Brave & Bold 178 by Jim Aparo with the villain Origami Man. JB's all about blazing new paths!!

Did you know there was a great anime called Read or Die a few years ago with a super heroine known as The Paper?

Continuing the "homages", here's a peek at the A cover for issue 3.

Love it!

Are you doing the "homages" in any kind of order?
