JB: Without giving away too much, Paper is TWO DIMENSIONAL. And she is pretty much STUCK in that condition.

How sad! Almost worse than being the Thing.

Loving all the art being posted here. I'm very excited for this series, and I'm excited by the guest inkers on the covers. I wish Dick Giordano was still alive. Would have liked to see him ink current day JB. HEY! How about having Neal Adams ink a cover? MPH

Rock and Blok seperated at birth? Yes, I know they were "born" a 1,000 years apart, but the resembance is Uncanny.

This must be some new use of the word "uncanny" with which I was not previously familiar.

=======
I think IDW is only asking those who have inked JB's work before.
Would George Perez fit in this category?

JB: Yes! Without giving away too much, Paper is TWO DIMENSIONAL. And she is pretty much STUCK in that condition. Which means some very odd views of her if she is coming at the camera from any angle other than head on. *** Thanks for info, JB! Yeah, the 2-D aspect can make things a little difficult to draw at times (unless the character is suppose to be odd and creepy, like the Paper Doll villainess from SPIDER-MAN). Just a guess on my part, but is that why her head appears three-dimensional in the visuals we have seen so far? Also, she might want to stay away from Japan... Some superstitious folk (or fans of the GE GE GE KITARO anime series) might mistake her for the Ittan-momen yokai (supernatural creature): http://www.obakemono.com/obake/ittanmomen/ ;)

Just a guess on my part, but is that why her head appears three-dimensional in the visuals we have seen so far?•• Just for the sake of my sanity, I have taken an occasional bit of artistic license with Paper -- but not always. . . I want to emphasize, tho, since some of you seem determined to keep picking away at this, that I am not presenting TRIO as a blindingly original project containing concepts like nothing you have ever seen before! In fact, many of the things you will see in TRIO are quite DELIBERATELY like things you have seen before.

Cool! And JB, my apologies if I'm coming off as one of those nitpicking the book... I am honestly looking forward to reading this when it comes out!

Can't wait to see the visual on the villain. Really excited about this book.

I see the answer to a question I've wanted to ask (but was afraid might be out of bounds) in the image JB posted. :-)

JB - The Diamond blurb at the beginning of the thread suggests that "fans of Byrne’s Fantastic Four and Alpha Flight especially, this is for you!". Is that a fair pitch*, do you think, in the tone that you are looking for in Trio? Regardless, this project is getting me really excited - like I'm fifteen again! * And I must admit, whilst being a huge AF fan who followed the series at the time, I didn't catch your run on FF (the omnibus is on order!) so perhaps there is an argument that the tone of these two series is / was very different.

A "fair pitch"? Well, I have said I want the "feel" of TRIO to be such that if the Fantastic Four made an appearance, you would not be entirely surprised!
