I would have enjoyed owning the actual Japanese self-published fan comics featuring Alpha Flight:

Interesting that Heather isn't wearing the Vindicator costume. Cool.

I always assumed that it was after the events of this issue that Aurora and Sasquatch had their "night in New York", since that's where I recall MM#18 taking place. I figured that they somehow ran off from Northstar!

 QUOTE:

For me, the best by far non JB AF is Paul Smith drawing them in X-Men/Alpha Flight.

OMG, completely forgot about that.  Yep, that one's best!

I dig Ditko's Sasquatch.

That Buckler cover is awful.

Bill,

I have been looking for such comics for a long time. I hope to find them someday.

I like Ditko's Sasquatch...he seemed to "get" his face. Nice! I was
happy with Paul Smith's Alpha Flight, and I agree that JRJr did a
fantastic job capturing Sasquatch in Contest of Champions (which was
actually m introduction to the character).

Legend or not, I do not like Ditko's version of Alpha Flight, at all.

If these two great legends (Ditko and Byrne) were total unknowns and were both trying to break into comics, and told to draw AF, and then those drawings were placed side-by-side to be judged, how many people would choose Ditko over Byrne?

For me, Byrne would win over most artists, drawing most any character.
IMHO.

****************

I thought that was Box until I read that article.

And why would Shaman need to look imposing?

And since when was Guardian Canada's Iron Man?

Talk about not understanding the characters!

This new, full body hide looks much cooler, and helps him take even more of a beating. Shaman needed to look more imposing than a long-haired guy in green leotards, and a little more authentic. I always thought Snowbird ought to look more like the totemic, shape-shifting deity that she is. Guardian is like the Canadian Iron Man, so I shined him up a little, and Aurora didn’t need to be wearing a black turtleneck body-suit if you ask me… it’s not as cold as you all think it is up here! Sasquatch is still perfect, but I wanted to draw him anyway, so there.”...

This guy really thinks he's the sh*t, doesn't he? How is his Shaman anymore "authentic" looking? Because he wears a totem mask??

"...I always thought Snowbird ought to look more like the totemic, shape-shifting deity that she is..."

Um, I think JB knows EXACTLY what she is, and how to portray her!

Frankly, this guy's attitude is disgusting. He thinks he knows better than the creator of the characters on how they should look?

And how did the artist, also a Canadian from what I gather, miss that Guardian by JB is wrapped up in the maple leaf flag??

Edit to add: The guy screws with another artists' characters while riffing on a Ken Steacy/Bruce Timm art style. Why don;t he try to create his own things in his own style?
