The Twins are blond on the cover, I see.

Yes -- blonds on the cover, with heavy gray highlights on their costumes. How many editorial eyes would this have had to pass in front of?

I don't know...it's kind of cool to see, but I wish we could time machine 60s era Ditko to do it. By this time period, the quality of Ditko's work (whether intentional or not) was much diminished IMO.

I've heard the phrase "saying black is white" but never realized there was a literal application of it.
As far as AF guest-starring in MACHINE MAN, it's pretty fun to see, but only because it's a rare thing (I can't say I'm a fan of the artwork here, or of the twins' white hair). Anyone know of any other guest appearances by AF around this time (or any time, for that matter)?
I find myself wanting to see what a Barry Windsor-Smith-drawn Sasquatch would look like.

About the only non-JB depiction of AF members that I like is JRjr's Sasquatch in the 3-issue Contest of Champions LS.

Yeah...not a big fan of the art. I'm glad AF got some exposure at that time, though.

I guess that would be issues 83 & 84 (the twins' haired turns white again on the latter cover). Like MM, these issues were scripted by DeFalco. I guess he was a big fan.

Thanks Nathan...haven't seen this issue in a long time! Always room for Ditko, IMHO!

By this time period, the quality of Ditko's work (whether intentional or not) was much diminished IMO ************* Why would you even suggest that Ditko would even produce "diminished" work on purpose? I don't like his stuff from this time period either, but I'd never say he could be doing lesser work intentionally. Is there some information I'm missing where Ditko said he wasn't giving his best efforts at this time?

Here's Ditko drawing Wolverine in JB's brown version of the costume...

That one kind of puzzles me too because I think their hair looks blatantly wrong in that picture, even though I'm someone who has been "taken in" by highlight colors over the years -- my mind's eye still expects Spiderman's costume to be red and blue, for instance. Now that I think about it, though, I'm not sure I've ever misread a character's hair color.
