I see the cover in the first post of this thread as an homage. There are just too many similarities in the poses of the two main characters, despite the differences.

I don't think homages are a bad thing, though. I always like the wink and nod implied by them.

I also don't think it's necessary always for the artist to say "after such-and-such" or whatever. In this case I think there are enough differences for it not to be an big deal.

JBs pose for the Demon is clearly not derived from Bissette. It is based on how Kirby portrayed the Demon moving, which again is based on Hal Foster's depiction of Prince Valiant dressing up as a Demon to scare someone, where he struck a similar pose (albeit portrayed from a different angle).

And a character busting through a window? I tell you, if I had a dime for every time that happened ...
