I like the Cockrum design.

••

So do I -- as a design. Just not for Cyclops.

The original design to me, is like how does he make a fist;

The quartz shield is supposed to rise to let the blast out. Only, I can't
figure out where it goes? The rim around the quartz always looked
too thin for the shield to rise completely into. (The new one may have
the same problem, but it doesn't look that way to me.)

Both designs look so close to me; that which one is drawn, doesn't
really register to me, unless I think about it.

"Double-clicking is far from a practical solution."

So, JB, what's your solution, for both Cyclops and Spider-Man, regarding palm controls?

I don't work for Marvel any more.

Always loved the way JB would have Cyclops use his power.

The Wolverine/Cyclops tussle scene is a classic, but HOLY CROW, is that a long monologue to squeeze into three seconds of fight!

Only Cyclops, done right, could appropriately handle Wolverine.

Panels like that are one of the things that started to turn me away from sound effects!!

Again, typical Chris. Seemed that no matter how face-paced I made a scene, he could slow it to a crawl!

ANECDOTE: When Frank Miller did the WOLVERINE mini with Chris, having seen how every scene in X-MEN tended to be heavy on verbiage, he left plenty of space for copy. Chris, tho, decided to adopt Frank's own terse writing style for that series, with the result that there was a LOT of blank space on the pages. Which readers at the time applauded as a brilliant new graphic approach!!

I prefer the good old fashioned "Zapt" as the sound effect for Cyclops'
Optic Blasts.

Generally, I prefer the beam itself to make no sound at all. Only the impact should be heard.
