Hmmmm...at this point everyone is scaring me off of this Ebay. And here I was so excited to have found this venue to purchase my first piece of Mr. Byrne's art. Almost a little like gambling when your bidding on a piece. Well congrats to the winner, ...he better treat her right. :-)

These days I have someone else do the bidding for me. I too generally prefer the Buy-It-Now option, tho. And when I do bid, I have my maximum offer put up right away, and then just look away until the auction is over.

I reiterate: bidding on that piece of art was the FIRST TIME I had ever tried eBay. No other purchases, no sales.

It would have never crossed my mind to do something as devious as that. I guess my mind doesn't work from that rotten of a direction as to try and screw people over. Sad.
I've been pretty lucky with my eBay purchases. The best item I won was JB's Spectacular Spider-Man 101 recreation. Best thing ever! I've also picked up a few of the Eaglemoss figurines and a couple of statues.

For stuff like this, where I know there are sharks in the water, I don't even bother bidding unless I know I can watch the last few minutes of the auction live. I'm not the type to put in a huge bid and hope it holds up.

I've adapted this approach on items I really want too. You just can't count on a bid to hold up, unless you really go over. I did this the other day on a Hulk statue I picked up. It was that Hulk #1 with the gray Hulk and Banner with the cover background.

My most annoying eBay experience was my very first. I was bidding
on a piece of art, and looked to be well out in front, when I received a
notification from eBay saying my account had been cancelled due to
my having failed to deliver items I had previously sold.

the notification. My guess would be that someone went and sold a
piece of your work and failed to deliver product. Since it was your
work, you got tagged.

Since it was your work, you got tagged.•• My name is far from uncommon, tho. Did every "John Byrne" who was signed up for eBay at that time get his account cancelled? No, as I said, I suspect this was deliberate. Heck, it may just have been some minibrain assuming a "John Byrne" bidding on cartoon art must be ME, and so . . .

I just can't get my brain wrapped around thinking about what ebay name you would use, if not your real name. It would just be weird thinking you might go by something like "ComicsGuy2008". It is like the first time I saw my 3rd grade teacher eating at McDonalds, it was strange seeing her do a "normal" thing.
