One of these days I really will get around to doing the life of Elizabeth I, but as a space opera. If Asimov could turn Earth history in his FOUNDATION trilogy, after all. . .

Ack! My first time using Ebay and I tried to win this wonderful piece but was unsucessful. For about a week I was the top bidder but then at thye last minute... well I was not fast enough. I think I need to learn to use Ebay if I bid on something again.

Andrew I've probably bid on two dozen items on Ebay in my life.
Every single one of them was lost in the last two minutes. I'm a big
fan of the "Buy Now" option!

The biggest reason I lose on eBay is I don't want to pay the price. I liked this piece a lot, but with no emotional attachment to it, I passed on bidding. I figure I can use the money towards future commissions and such.
Lovely piece, congrats to the winner.

My most annoying eBay experience was my very first. I was bidding on a piece of art, and looked to be well out in front, when I received a notification from eBay saying my account had been cancelled due to my having failed to deliver items I had previously sold.I reiterate: bidding on that piece of art was the FIRST TIME I had ever tried eBay. No other purchases, no sales. So, of course, I fired off an email at once, pointing out the error, but got nothing in response but automated replies. Naturally, I lost the piece. I wonder if the person who "won" was the one who "reported" me?

That wouldn't be an issue now, JB - the bidder's IDs are obfuscated to everyone but the seller.
I agree, though, that the eBay experience can leave a lot to be desired - I generally stick to the Buy-It-Now options when I can. Having someone swoop at the last second is beyond frustrating.
