It's a bummer when something comes out like the Doctor Who episode that is so similar to something you thought up. I've had some ideas over the years that I thought would make a good story, or at least part of a good story, only to see the basic idea used later, before I could do anything with it myself. I am happy to hear about the superhero book coming out sooner, though!

Watching a television show the other day, you could imagine my horror and downright outrage when I found the show I was watching (it really doesn't matter which one) contained story points that had not ONE but TWO of the very same MAJOR plot points that make up a series that I am currently developing.
For a moment, I was unsure what to do. Surely comparisons would be made and I would no doubt be accused of 'ripping off' this episode (if not the series altogether), but eventually I decided to carry on with my original concept following JB's advice from a previous topic (Paraphrasing: 'With all the ides, concepts, inspirations and whatnot floating around, someone is bound to: guess the ending and/or create a similar story / character or that another individual may be working on. Rushing to change the end of a story because someone has correctly guessed the original doesn't mean the "new" version won't be something someone already guessed, too!).
Now I mention this NOT as a suggestion for JB to complete his concept as originally planned (As I am not a fan of Dr. Who, I would not have been aware of the similarities anyway), but as a means of mentioning how ABSOLUTELY FRUSTRATING it must be to have to make changes to an idea he has worked hard so hard on simply because of the perception that two people COULDN'T POSSIBLY have come up with similar ldeas independent of one another.
Imagine that!

Awww.... Horay! Well I'm glad that the Next Men will be back but sad your story has to be shorter than planned and altered. Would it help if I promised not to watch Doctor Who? (actually I have never seen it despite it being something I would probably like). And who will this mysterious superhero be?

Well, that´s ok, JB.
Now, do a Doctor Who book and we call it squares.

Well, the 9 recent issues of JBNM and the 5 issues of AFTERMATH together should make a decent-sized phone book to join the first two!

JB, you seem to be limiting yourself to having only one or two books for sale each month. Any particular reason for this? In the past you have been able handle a heavier load. Just curious. (Ideally, I would like to buy a Byrne book every week. :-P)
