Can't find this listed anywhere else here, so I will mention that DC is apparently releasing a hardcover collection (Vol. 1) of Jim Aparo's superb BRAVE & BOLD work.

A highly under-rated artist, and greatly missed. One of the first comics I ever bought was a 100 page Brave and the Bold, featuring Jim's cool take on the Spectre.

Aparo's Batman is most often what I picture as the definitive Batman in my mind.  He was the artist of the earliest Batman comics I saw in the 80s.

I'm looking forward to it! I had a discussion just the other day at my LCS about how I'm not liking what DC is currently doing with Batman, but that it doesn't seem to affect me as much as it used to since they keep releasing all the classic material. I got the Neal Adams HCs (don't like the fact that they've had "upgrades", but I'll take what I can get) and the first Gene Colan volume, there's a Marshall Rogers HC coming out in October, and the Jim Aparo HC comes out next April I believe.

All of it is new to me - I have no nostalgic feelings or memories of it, I didn't read it as a kid - but it all still feels more like the "real" Batman than anything else I've read.

It's those earlier "Brave and Bold" issues drawn by Aparo that cemented me as a Batman fan, and Aparo's rendition from that era is still my favorite look for Batman.

As a kid Brave & the Bold was my favorite Batman book, due to Aparo's artwork.  Funny that at the time I didn't know his name, but recognized his work on sight!  Great artist.  Looks like another book I'll be buying.

385 pages for $29.99? ($19.99 from amazon pre-order)... what a deal!

The marshall rogers book from this set comes out in November, and it is 500 pages and pretty inclusive of Marshall's Batman work.

I already have the Brave and the Bold showcases with some of his run in Black and White, but it might be worth picking up in colour. He's my favorite Batman artist (yes, ahead of Neal Adams).

Aparo was the man! Batman & The Outsiders was one of my favorite books.  Will definitely look out for this.
