Okay, here are some pictures from Toho Studios, home of Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and so many other giant monsters!

In front of the studio gates stands a Godzilla statue. Meeting us at the studio were (l to r) Akira Takarada (Starred in the original Godzilla, the last film, and several in between), Yosuke Natsuki (Shindo, from "Ghidrah the Three-Headed Monster"), and Haruo Nakajima, the man who played Godzilla from 1954 into the 1970s.

To the left, filling the entire side of a building, is this impressive mural...

Once inside the gates, you have Mothra to help you find parking!

That's me inside soundstage #8, one of the only big, special effects soundstages from the Godzilla series still standing.

Mr. Akira Takarada and myself, holding one of the two diving helmets used at the climax of the 1954 Godzilla. It was worn by Dr. Serizawa, who gave his life to ensure that the secret of his Oxygen Destroyer would never threaten mankind...

Unfortunately for him, the secret's out! We were all surprised to see (and hold) one of the two original Oxygen Destroyer props. It was all metal and glass, and heavy. The other prop, which has a mechanism to open the glass case, is in private hands.

Almost forgot. There was one more I wanted to share:

That's Bin Furuya, who played Ultraman in the original 1966 series.

In case the pose doesn't ring a bell...

^ And this was just the first real day of G-Tour 2 (talk about starting off on a high note)!

The Toho Studios sign outside the street entrance to the main gate (a rather peaceful and secluded neighborhood too, for all the cinematic mayhem that went on past this point)

The guardian of the Toho Main Gate greets us!

Actor Akira Takarada appears in window above the main gate entrance..

Arriving to see a special screening of FINAL WARS.  I was always bringing up the rear of these group walkabouts, all due to stopping to take photos of just about everything on the Tour.

The only picture I took within the Toho Screening Room that came out okay...  Just reminder to myself that it wasn't dream.

Yoshimitsu Banno, the director of GODZILLA VS. HEDORAH, departs the Post-Production building with a JBF member after the screening.

Akira Takarada asking if anyone wants to hold Oxygen Destroyer prop (there were no shortage of volunteers).

The last sight of Toho Studios as our chartered bus departs.

On the road heading away from the Studio Main Gate.  I knew the location of these fence images after doing a virtual "drive-by" of the studio via Google Maps Street View months earlier, so I had my camera ready to shoot as our bus passed them.

Okay, that is all for now.

Next up:  The Bandai Museum and Ultraman Festival 2011.

I'm going to let Martin post his photos on the Bandai Museum trip first, but here are a few teasers:

This is certainly going to be the most toy-centric photo stops on our Japan trip.  ;)
