Where's all the graffiti and trash?  I thought the Japanese were civilized?

^ Oh, there was graffitti here and there... Mainly not in the heavy public traffic areas like the main thoroughfares, train stations, etc.

As for trash, apart from the recycling bins next to the drink vending machines (the Japanese are big sticklers for making sure used PET bottles go into their proper bins), you basically had to hold onto it until you found one of the rare trash recepticals next to a restaurant like McDonalds (or took it back to the hotel for disposal).

Bill, fantastic photos! I am a big Godzilla fan. Obviously not as big as you or Martin. ;) Unfortunately I've never seen much Ultraman. I vaguely recall seeing a few episodes as a child. But these pics make me want to hunt down some DVDs and see what I've been missing.

Nice pics, I love the Toho Godzilla movies and recently watched all of Ultraman.  Consider me jealous.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone!

Robert, I can truthfully say that we're just getting started here!  ;-)

Hey Bill! Good stuff, but your friends' Facebook pix beat you to it! ;) Although, from what I hear- you took the most pictures...

Oh, and (in general) if you don't like Ultraman... than, I have no use for you.
sorry, Mom.

Paul, you missed out on a thing called PURE JOY. I'm so sorry for your loss.

now where did I put my Beta capsule.

Ah, you mean the photo of me doing maniacal laughter with the Oxygen Destroyer, or the ones on the G-Tour 2 members' Facebook sites?

Mind you, some G-Tour 2 members were updating their Facebook pages on a daily basis via the Internet access provided in the hotel lobbies.  There are people who just can't go off the grid for even a day....

I believe the "Monster Prince" still has your Beta capsule. ;)

Okay Dave, I now know who you were talking about (and about those not liking Ultraman)...

Heh, I see Skip Peel caught me while shopping for Kiryu (MechaGodzilla 3) figures at Kyoto's Super-Position store!

And darn, his Lake Biwa fireworks photo came out better than mine too...

Work's really busy these days, which is why it's taken so long to comment. Needless to say, a lot of my pics are practically identical, although didn't take anywhere near as many. But here are a couple addition pictures to complement Bill's.

A view of Tokyo Tower from a nearby shrine (I had visited the tower a couple days earlier, so a few of us went to the shrine instead of the tower).

Zozoji Temple, near Tokyo Tower.

Jizo statues dressed in bibs and knit hats. Serve as protection for the souls of deceased infants and children. It's actually a bit weirder than that...

From Ultra-Street. Each of the posts used to keep cars out of pedestrian areas was topped with an image from Ultraman's opening credits. Here are Ultraman and Pigmon...

BTW, I have say it was pretty neat to spend time on this tour with Bill, another member of the JBF. What's strange is that this tour was arranged by the publisher of a Godzilla magazine and was populated by people I mostly already knew from the related convention. Bill Mimbu, on the other hand, I only knew from the JBF!

I tried hard to find a Japanese comic reprint of one of JB's books, so Bill and I could be photographed with it in front of a famous Japanese landmark. Found some Japanese language Marvel albums, but they were all reprinting stuff from after JB's time there...

Never noticed those car post images until now, Martin!  I also forgot that you arrived before the tour to explore Tokyo.

Go ahead and post the Toho Studios photos, and I'll upload any complimentary ones (will be posting my pictures with the stars in the Members Photo Thread).
