They still have trunks, they're just the same color as the rest of the costume. I don't like these designs. There seems to be a whole mess of arbitrary lines and doodads on everything.

The more I see Superman's armored costume, the more it seems awful.
I like Aquaman's, though.
And the "no more writing for the trade" news is a very good one.

Why are these artists determined to put all these arbitrary lines and crap all over the costumes? What purpose is it for? Even the NFL, which is probably the closest approximation of superheroes in costume/uniforms, doesn't get that ridiculous. No matter how hard they try, the NFL's changes never work, and uniforms look best when they are simple and evocative of the brand. The most popular uniforms in sports have been the most simple, most evocative: Cowboys, Yankees, Canadians, Celtics. Why then are the comics determined to muck with the comic book equivalent?

It's interesting that Aquaman makes it through the reboot with the fewest changes to his costume, since he's in a group with such iconic characters as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and the Flash.
The Superman costume looks a little better here than it did when George Perez drew it for his Superman #1 cover. Still not sold on it, especially without the trunks, but I guess Jim Lee's better at "selling" this design than anyone else.
And I'm all for bumping Cyborg up to the big leagues. He was the heart and soul of the Teen Titans back in the 1980s (and a lot of us knew him as the coolest thing about the Super Friends/Super Powers cartoon in its final season, along with Darkseid and Firestorm), got marginalized pretty badly in the 1990s, and I think he came back into his own again with the Teen Titans animated series on Cartoon Network in the 2000s. With Firestorm going back to his white guy incarnation and Hal Jordan front and center as Green Lantern again, giving one of their most recognizable black characters a turn in the spotlight is a good thing.

I hope this is the beginning of the end of "writing for the trade" throughout the comic book industry. *********************************** They'll be "writing for the digital". DC realises that new digital readers are not going to fork out for 1/6 of a story.

That's a variation of Jim Lee's re-design for her in the Batman: Arkham Asylum Video Game, only with the out sexy nurse costume bits.

It appears trunks have been replaced by the crotch-arrow. Even Superman is sporting one.

Right, Mark Waid started every issue of Flash with "My name is Wally West. I'm The Flash. I'm the Fastest Man Alive." With the occasional variation.
