I think the approach will be somewhat like the approach that Dini and Timm took with the Batman and Justice League cartoons in the 90s: keep the best stuff, try some new stuff, throw out what doesn't work. The new Lantern mythos stuff has proven so popular and gives such a framework for future stories that it surely falls under "best stuff" for their purposes.
Even though I wasn't a huge fan of the many Lantern factions (to be fair, I didn't read most of the material), I prefer this approach to, say, the reboot Marvel pulled with the Ultimate line. They did an "anything goes" approach and ended up with a teen Fantastic Four, a Reed who proved to be a villain, the Avengers as a bunch of government black ops a-holes, and Wolverine as a true scumbag who, as an adult, beds a teenage Jean Grey.
Yes, ultimately I prefer "best of" over "anything goes."

This is a good opportunity for me to dump most of my DC titles: - I hope they don't reboot the Legion of Super-heroes. If they do, I'm out. I don't see the reason to, since it's now pretty separate from the rest of the DC universe (outside of Superboy).
- JLA - Gone.
- JSA - We'll see.
- Power Girl - Likely gone, unless they convince Amanda Conner to come back to the title
- Teen Titans (so close to 100, I wonder if they'll make it). Then gone.
- Flash - Gone
- Zatanna - It's a pretty separate title already, so why reboot it? If they do, it'll be gone.
- Birds of Prey - we'll see.
- Green Arrow - Gone
- Supergirl - we'll see.
- Superman - Gone

I'm not so sure about that, Stephane. "We're" already reading the books. If we keep reading, then DC is just treading water. I don't think they are relaunching the books just to tread water.

How do we determine if this is successful? *** Well, I'm not sure if they are indicating what the goalposts are on this one, but I'd have to say we will have to look at the August sales of their bellwether titles (Superman, Batman, JLA, etc) and compare them the sales of the #2 and #3 salient relaunch issues (people will buy the new #1s, even if they don't buy more so the #1s aren't going to be as strong an indicator).

I don't think we'll know within the next year whether this is a success. (We'll certainly know if it is a failure.) What if DC only increases sales by 10% - is that a success? What about 20% - success? Overtaking Marvel - success? I don't know what makes this a success, but I do not what makes it a failure. A minor bump in sales, without books coming out on time, and greater editorial controls (the right editorial controls), isn't going to be a success.
