I tried ACTION COMICS #1, on the iPad.

I found it to be a much inferior, unconvincing pastiche of 1938īs ACTION COMICS #1.

I also checked the previews of the other releases and didnīt feel like getting any of the titles.

Too many talking heads.

Me too Flavio.

Glamourpuss (love what Sim is doing)
Next Men
Jonah Hex (mainly for Jordi Bernet)
(and a lot of collected reprints and art books)

Question: Anyone who is a fan of Kirby's Omac read the new one?  Impressions?

Don Zoomberg wrote: Old EC horror comics and superhero titles =
apples and oranges.

Kip wrote: When I was a kid; that distinction did not exist; Superman,
House of Horrors (or whatever it was called), cowboy comics, sci-fi--
they were all one and the same.

Matt wrote: Once again it feels like you're disagreeing just to be an
auto-contrarian. I'm quite certain that I'm older than you and the
distinction between what was acceptable in a horror comic and what
was acceptable in a mainstream superhero comic couldn't have been
more clear and distinct especially given the strict limits of the CCA
back in the day. Even in the 80s when I was a teenager I knew that
when I picked up a comic starring Batman or Superman I wasn't going
to get a Western or a Horror book.Your point, such as it is, really
makes no sense whatsoever.

---------------

OK, let me explain my point; when I was a kid, I never viewed things
as, this stuff belongs in a horror comic but doesn't belong in a super-
hero comic. If horror elements showed up in Batman, I wouldn't have
said, "this doesn't belong here." If super-hero elements showed up in
a western, I wouldn't have viewed it as crossing genre. I would have
said, "it's a comic book". I didn't really separate Conan from Cap from
the Micronauts, when I was around 10 year old in the mid-70s.

I think if we search Superman's history, we will find this isn't the first
time he's said that.

Edited: thought it said "GO" and rest of the word was cut off.

"GD"? I don't get it...? I read that as a grunt. Does this dum-dum see
that as being "goddamn"? Sweet merciful crap...
