Who were the X-Men when you read your first issue and what year did the it come out in?

Year: 1986

1. Wolverine

2. Phoenix 2

3. Rogue

4. Storm

5. Shadowcat

6. Nightcrawler

7. Shadowcat

Magneto appeared in the corner box, but wasn't really around (right after #200)

After being a primarily Spider-Man and Avengers fan during the mid 80s (when I could buy those books off the racks at Hook's pharmacy in my hometown), my friend Alan turned me on to the X-books around '90/'91 during the X-tinction Agenda.  So that was the Blue & Gold team era.

B: Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Psylocke, Rogue, Wolverine

G: Archangel, Colossus, Jean Grey, Iceman, Storm

I caught the end of JB's run on X-Men, so that to me is my ideal team. However, I did know about them from the reprints and those X-Men were the original team, so I guess that's my default first memory of them.

I don't remember. Publication was so mixed up in the early days in France...You could read all new all different and originial X-Men at the same time. I think because the new version was becoming so popular and people wanted more, they started publishing again the early years for the people who had missed it.
But I'm sure the first issue that made a definite impression on me was# 111 with Mesmero and the X-Men  turned to Circus freaks. WOW that was my book!

edited to correct wrong info.

Uncanny X-men #146 was the first X-Men I bought, probably '81 or '82. The X-Men in that issue?

Iceman
Havok
Banshee
Polaris

The issue took place in the middle of a story arc and I thought this was the real team.

X-Men #127, 1979ish

Cyclops, Phoenix, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, and a de-powered Banshee.  Later when I read comics where Banshee had powers, it never "fit" for me.

Lorna Dane, Havok, and Madrox were also in the issue, but maybe because of something so simple as the faces on the upper left corner cover box, I knew they weren't regulars.
