Yes, Nick Cardy did the same scene in Teen Titans 14, 1968.

Cool.  Anything that predates that 1968 comic?

Just how old are you looking for?

I'm usually not for costume updates, but I have to admit adding pants was a big improvement.

There was of course the older Earth-Two Robin's updated looks.

I would think tunic under t-shirt,not `all-in-one` under t-shirt with `scaly` crotch area like in that Perez shot,it doesn`t look `right` and would be very impracticle for toilet breaks while out crime fighting!

I like the 2nd E2 adult Robin costume. Never cared for the 1st.

Always thought it was a green short sleeve unitard (?) under a red
tunic.

Just how much (in their own ways) do Nick Cardy and George Perez
rule?

How did this lame-o character ever survive into the modern era?

Lame-O? I'd take a classic character like Robin over a lot of the blood thirsty vulgar characters out there now, any day.

Better that than the alternative we can infer from Frank Miller's observation that the yellow oval on the Batman's chest emblem was to draw gunfire to an armored portion of his costume.  If the character wore a patch of bright color to direct gunfire, what does that say about how he dressed Robin?  Was he a junior partner/apprentice or was he a decoy?

It seemed that Miller thought about it too much and not enough at the same time.

As drawn by Bob Kane Robin looked pretty good.

Loved the long sweeping cape. In fact, a reprint of his first appearance had the cape colored green and that looked even better than yellow.

Never saw anything wrong with the shorts or boots. It looked like a circus acrobat's gear and THAT worked well. That outfit only looks kookie on a full-grown adult like Burt Ward.
