I'm happy this thread is here. I was going to make one otherwise. I like Iron Man I like tony stark. But There is not much to like about Tony Stark today. I enjoy, for the most part, the current book. But man Tony sure is an A**hole these days.

I made the mistake of watching the extremis motion comic on netflix last night. It made me sad. I don't know if it becuase I grew up in a town where they invented the tomahwak missile and f-18s flew overhead everyday. But I get really tired of tony getting bashed for weapons design. The Iron Man is a weapon (god, how I hate "The Iron Man") and weapons are bad therefore Iron Man is bad.

Talking about the Alcoholism being on the back burner and not really talked about. in the recent 500.1 was an origin retelling from an AA meeting. Hardly a back burner story.

Today Tony Stark is an alcholic baby killer who will never be able to do enough good to wash the blood off his hands with an incredible abount of self loathing plus a daddy complex

IMO The damage done to Tony from "demon in a bottle" is not that he had (has) a drinking problem. The damage is that Tony hated himslef so much that it drove him to be an alcoholic. I know that was not Michiline and Layton's intent, but it looks to me that how it worked out.

At least that's how I see it, I could be wrong.
