Anyone know if the current issue of Thor is the one where he renounces his citizenship in Asgard, since all of his actions reflect on Asgard?

I'm just fond of the fact that in his ongoing title, Superman is walking across America because he wants to reconnect to the country he calls home. And in this back-up story, he's now denouncing his American citizenship.

It's rather under the heading of flogging a dead horse to mention that DC is once again ignoring its own "continuity", but Superman WAS long ago awarded World Citizenship by the UN.

Telling good stories should be 'the issue' since Superman has been unreadable for over ten years. I'd say since JB left but I stuck with the book for a few years after and it was pretty good. But the past ten years have seen some really bad, shameful stuff. I've tried reading the book a few times and the random issues I picked up were so awful, I threw them away... in the garbage. And I come from a time when throwing away a comic -- any comic -- would have been sacrilege.

I couldn't even summon up the courage to give them away.

***

I had that garbage can experience too. A few years ago, I somehow got it in my head that I might enjoy trying to read mainstream superhero comics again. I guess I was feeling sentimental. For a few months, I tried reading the titles I had grown up on. Big mistake. It all just felt wrong: no magic, no wonder, no excitement. The final straw came when I bought a JLA issue where nobody did anything but talk for 22 pages. I got so disgusted, I took the whole box of stufff from those several months and tossed it in a dumpster. I have 2 nephews, ages 12 and 13 at the time, and I wouldn't have given those to them! I think that was when I really understood that Marvel and DC are dead.

Little side-note: as comics are widely available in newsstands and
bookshops in Brazil, I am actively CONCERNED that kids are reading this
garbage and associating it to the erstwhile Marvel and DC characters.

I think its been around awhile on the ultra-left progressive side, but it recently kicked into high gear starting with Obama's World Apology Tour.

**************

Going around and apologizing to our allies for things we did wrong is in no way showing shame towards your country.  It shows your big enough to admit you made mistakes and that you're sorry for it.

I get that the right wing fucktards (I'm looking at you Bill) in this country could give a shit if the rest of the world hates us.  Me?  I do care.  I count a great number of people from other countries as my friends and quite frankly don't like how their countries view us because a certain segment says "We are America. We can do no wrong. If you don't like it go fuck yourself."

Those were the Bush years in a nutshell and I had quite enough of it.  My parents love me, but have no problem telling me when I'm wrong.  Why can't my love for my country be tempered with being able to say when it's done wrong?  Personally I think any idiot who is unwilling to say when their country has done wrong cannot possibly have the same love and respect for it as I do.

Cool, a speech on forgiveness all the while attacking someone.

Ah yes. The power of apology.  Truly the sign of a strong and commanding leader. He really should make it the cornerstone of his re-election campaign. He could apologize to Japan for Hiroshima, then he could apologize to the Indians, and I'm sure he could find something to apologize to Canada for...I really think this strategy will work out well for him!

If it's not, then why are the Republicans so mad at him?
