I'm shocked that Superman is American again now! Absolutely stunned! Really...

I'm just surprised they backed off after a week.  I thought they'd at least drag it out for a couple of years, then do a 12-part "Path to Re-Citizenship" storyline that had 20 "connecting" one-shots and three different variant covers each.

Congratulations, DC, for following the example of Superman in righting a wrong.

Late to the party on this link, but work has been crazy and I only saw this last night catching up with the DVR.

Kal-El has broken Stephen Colbert's heart, and he discusses the issue on his "Threat Down" segment from last week.  It features JB's iconic Man of Steel image:

The most recent issue of Superman has him waxing about America and the American Way, An issue that was probably written & drawn around the same time as Action 900. In other words the controversy about Goyers one off was a tempest in a teapot. DC probably had no plans to do a storyline about Superman: American No More!!!!

"I wonder if Time-Warner got involved at all and put a nix on this."

I hope it leads to lots and lots of firings.

doing.

My guess would be that the story above was a standard, by-the-numbers issue with the last page changed to counter the wave of anti-DC sentiment rising as a result of Action #900. Livewire is not an immigrant of any sort. This was probably the earliest issue they could alter to begin damage control on the controversy caused by Goyergate.

Chris Roberson, the author of that issue of Superman, has said that
the story in Action 900 and his in Superman were written independent
of each other. Sorry no conspiracy here.

Not a conspiracy. Just a CYA.

Also, not a well-written comic here either, based on that page.

Boy, that's one horrible shot of Superman in the last panel . . . where's Al Plastino to redraw those heads when you really need him?

That particular artist seems to have a hardtime with profiles.

I've no idea what the production lag time it these days, but I doubt there was time to write or draw a new page as a response to Action #900 and get Superman #711 on the shelves on its solicitated date. There was only two weeks between issues. And wouldn't "both hands" belong to Matt Idleson and Will Moss who are the editor and associate editor on both books?
