Really? "Many have noticed this voluntary 'discrepancy' on JB's part". Don't you think thats a bit of mind reading on "Many" peoples part?

Wallace: That humiliation would be sufficient justice for Zebediah's actions?

---

Nathan: I don't think so. And if you believe he'll "probably" encourage his
sons to form a "Klan group in order to take it out on 'em" -- I don't see
sufficient justice AT ALL!

---

I don't think so either. (Just to be clear, I was asking that question of
Carmen.)

THE GOOD:

This book is running at breakneck speed. No fat, all protein. All the pieces are coming into play (almost) and you get a real sense this is coming to a head real soon. It's like puzzle pieces falling perfectly into place.

The art is incredible. JB's ability to create distinct time periods and still have them feel as part of one greater story is a testiment to his storytelling abilities.

THE BAD:

I have to wait 30 more days for the next issue.

I bought the phone books for a friend of mine as a birthday present.  When he got them delivered, he said, "Oh my God, Tom!  This is comic books!  You know I don't..."

I said, "Just read it.  It truly is a graphic novel."

So -- not quite a week later -- he called and said, "That was AMAZING!  But who's the guy in the Armor who saved them?"

I laughed and said, "You're lucky... I had to wait fifteen years."

Finally got this issue on Saturday and it did not disappoint!! I hope Toni returns the favor to Zeb by taking one of his appendages. Nathan just can't seem to catch a break always landing in some osrt of military situation. Even though Jazz has always been the least interesting character to me, I am still interested in seeing what has happened to her. Beth is getting more interesting by the minute.

Even after all she's been through, I'm not sure Tony would do something like
that.

I noticed that JB didn't use the <   > to highlight the dialogue of the characters speaking Italian or German.  Is that still used in comics these days?

Joss: Beth was buried in lava for 238 years. The 'alternate' events of JBNM 34 probably occurred around the year 2000 (roughly the time setting of the 1st series). Beth should have woken up in the year 2238.

William: Joss, I would think that's a little bit of over analyzing. Why the need to peg down every bit of minutia? Have fun with it and don't get caught up in trying to "fix" the story so it fits into a nice neat package.

++++++++

I don't think it's over analyzing it. A better way to look at is, if Gil and crew are from 2147, and Beth woke up there after being trapped for 238 years, then that means Beth would have been encased in lava in the year 1909. And we know that's not the case.

So there is something there. But Joss, probably better to mention it as an observation rather than a question. I'm sure this will be addressed in future issues...unless 2147 was a typo!

Huh.

I missed the math on that... can't wait to hear how that one is explained!

The sad thing about people like Zeb is they are usually a product of their society/cultural upbringing.  I'm glad that his Grandaughter can see outside his black and white point of view.  I see this limited worldview in a lot of the Islamic students I teach. Thankfully though, there are some like Sally that can see beyond this.

With the Bethany/Gillian storyline I'm starting to wonder if there is a connection between Gil and Tannen.  I guess I'll find out in the all Gillian issue coming up soon.

------------------
The only thing that would stop Toni would be if Verity interferes.

Soooo.....The little doohickey...that trims Beths  by manipulating time...was the most interesting thing by far. I have a feeling we are going to see that used in different ways.
