WOW!!! For the life of me I don't know know why I connected Gil to Thomas Kirkland's brother. I guess in the earlier issue I glossed over Gil meaning Danny as his/her brother, and the in this past issue I read Bethany talked about Thomas Kirkland and not thinking, I fused the two!!!! Wow I meant Gil and Bethany.
Nathan, I like your sense of humour. I have tears down my eyes on the possibility of IDW releasing "The Further Adventures of Thomas Kirkland's Younger Brother"

This younger brother thing is odd. Gil doesn't look like Cal at all imho!

I think that's the name of Kirkland's younger brother...right? "Cal"... Sounds right.

How funny that I posted the cover to JBNM 30 and it so happens that JBNM 39's will pay homage to it! Saying I'm excited to see how XXXXX catches a cold and confesses to Nathan (Re: 'Nathan I'm cold') (:-) is an understatement. Saying I'm excited about Aftermath is a euphemism. Saying I'm flabbergasted about an expanding JB (NM ???) universe is putting it only mildly. John, can you see this saliva drop coming out o' my mouth ???

Managed to pick up and read issue 1 in December. Just today caught up on 2,3,4 and 5. WOW!!! I want to start a new thread praising this story and how much I am enjoying the ride. Great work JB. Thanks for returning to your Next Men.

Late to the party here, but only because I had only just gotten my shipment from DCBS. I'll keep this short - I was literally becoming angry with JB for his cruelty towards his characters upon reading this issue last night. Someone mentioned the violence in this book upthread. Thing is, it's really not as violent as many of the books out there today. But here the violence isn't just for shock value to be 'kewl' - it's more cerebral by showing the full ramifications of what's being done to the characters. So with that, it 'feels' worse than it does with other books.

Still don't have it! Been awaiting replacement for the "damaged" one, I just called and the LCS doesn't have it yet. Hard to avoid spoilers but so far so good!

Apologies if this has been discussed before, but I don't see any such discussion. JB was so careful about mentioning certain dates and time-intervals in Next Men (such as the clues that Sathanas's actual age was the same as Hilltop's age plus the years he re-experienced between 1955 and 2112). So I have to believe that the multiple mentions of Bethany's improsioment for "238 years" has a specific relevance. But darned if I can see what that relevance is. I'm also scratching my head over the visual of the Nazi soldier who talks with Flemming Jorgensen and who looks an awful lot like a young Hilltop. The future-president of the United States couldn't possibly have been born in Nazi Germany, could he? These aren't complaints--they are "I'm so interested in what comes next that I keep thinking of more possibilities."
