     I think, looking back at all the things that impressed me so much about John Byrne's art through the years, that the single most underrated aspect of his art is the overall realism of the scenes and objects which he portrays.  This is especially true of ordinary humans and everyday objects in a world where superheroes, monsters and fantastic Kirbytech machines also seem "real".

     Very few artists these days can pull this off and make it look convincing that the man standing next to Captain America, for instance, is just an ordinary Joe who hasn't lifted anything heavier than a coffee in his everyday life...
