Dear Jeebus, what "kids" did you want reading those books? If you mean 15+, then YES! They did make us buy them!!! I bought Sandman and Hellblazer BECAUSE of the Dave McKean covers, and I was 15. Heck, after a while, Vertigo-ish books weren't supposed to be sold to "kids" due to the age restriction.
BUT THEY WERE KEWL!!! Bisley? KEWL!!!
So, I hate to say it, but I'm not sure what you're thinking. Maybe it's that you think most teenagers want Batman & Superman. Or Image?
They don't. Most teenagers don't want comics, period. Those weird ones like me wanted Artsy Fartsy. Everyone else wanted Lee or Mcfarlane... The different Kewl.
