Wayde, no I wouldn't say it was like that episode of JL. I think the story kind of highlights (maybe not intentionally, maybe intentionally) the difference between this generation and of the generation of kids when Supergirl/Kara first arrived on earth. Supergirl served the role of the cynical reader when seeing Kara and responding to her actions. But it wasn't like a Mad Magazine slam. Supergirl saw her as a "out of time" naive girl who she came to love and there was a certain amount of "eye-rolling" on her part,. Then when it came clear that she needed to "die", the modern Supergirl tried to take her place. Ultimately, the cynic/realist opened her eyes. I would say that in a way it was closer to "Captain America coming from a simplier time" compared with the cynical and ultra-realistic view of today.
