Just looking at some of the annotations on that technical drawing above, and some of it seems odd. So, let's see... we've got a hip motor and a knee motor and then on the elbows we have....Man amplifier motors?

Then on the helmet we have "tailored flat motor material (used as protective cloth)". Well that's clear then.

Nice to see they marked on "cape clasp hooks" or I might be confused as to how his cape stays on.

The principal difference between Doom's armor and Iron Man's seems to be Doom's force field.  From OHOTMU:

 QUOTE:
Doctor Doom's armor is able to generate an invisible, kinetic energy/dimensional-shunt force field capable of withstanding projectiles of any man-made kind, temperatures from 1,400,000°+ Fahrenheit (which exists only in the heart of a nuclear weapon detonation) to -410° F (50 degrees above "absolute zero," the theoretical point at which molecules almost come to rest), and all frequencies of radiation within the electromagnetic spectrum.

Iron Man's armor, by contrast, can only withstand kinetic energy equivalent to 100 pounds of TNT at 20 feet and a temperature range between -185° F and 15,000°+ F, and it it blocks only 30% of incoming radiation.  In other words, it looks like Doom designed his armor with his own physical protection as his top priority.  Given his character, that's hardly surprising.

Presumably if Doom were so inclined he could equip his armor with the same sorts of bells and whistles that Iron Man's possesses, but he simply chooses not to do so.
