It'd be interesting to see what Iron Man would do if placed in the situation Doom was in after his battle with Tyros.

He was, in Iron Man #133 following his battle with the Hulk.  Ant-Man had to assist him before he died inside the suit.

When Iron Man's armor is unavailable or inoperative, he is Tony Stark.  When Doom's armor is unavailable or inoperative, he is DOOM.

Excellent point, Wayde.

Tony Stark may be a genius, but it's the armor that makes him Iron Man. Without it, he's a vulnerable man.

Doom is Doom, armor or nor. It is his intellect and sheer force of will that give him his power. Doom may have a few gadgets built into his suit, but it is not the suit that makes him dangerous. The suit is just window dressing.

You're welcome Paulo, and apologies for the spoiler.  The incident was part of a 3-issue storyline, and was a terrific read.  You're in for a treat!

I believe Doom wears a larger set of armor during the winter months, to accommodate his "holiday weight."

I only have a handful of Iron Man comics but I do have part 2 of that story and it's weird but in all my years I've never even seen the cover of #133.

Funny thing I just noticed about that Dr. Doom image.

John Byrne drew the kidney-shaped elbow joint but the 'technical' opposite side shows a circular shape.

I believe Marvel hid that one from everyone, Lars. I've never seen it before
today!

It does make sense that since the armor was designed to be
worn virtually all of the time (unlike the Iron Man
models) that it wouldn't necessarily have all of Iron
Man's abilities or similar abilities. I'd assume that this
has something to do with why his armor isn't quite as
powerful as Iron Man's.
