John Byrne drawing Alpha Flight, and all is right in the world. Congrats to the commissioner, great choice!

Several reasons to love that image: great action, the characters look their best (as usual with JB) and this particular image takes me back to a time when I discovered the X-Men.
Congratulations to the commissioner.

Great piece of work. And I too confess to having totally forgotten that Shaman's Totem fight despite being an avid X-Men/Alpha Flight fan. I guess I need to re-read them all!

Congrats to the commissioner! They got themselves a doozy!
Awesome issue that led to one of my favorite Marvel series.

I love commissions that draw from that period of JB's career.  I'm instantly a kid again.

This is a favorite story of mine from the X-Men run - excellent commission, JB!!

This isn't the first time JB has revisited this story.  In the 1990's, before I had ever seen a commission, I picked up the portfolio of JB's X-Men art.  I think it was French or Canadian?  Each of them is called a "planche".  Not sure what it means, but it's been mentioned on the forum before and it's basically a bunch of awesome B&W prints that have the same vibe as a commission.  The scene from this storyline hangs on my wall so I can see my favorite X-Man every day:

Geez - maybe I should have used the flash.  I kind of like the sepia tone tho!

Byrne drew X-Men in the 1800's! I knew he was a time traveller!
