I remember that issue. Picked that issue up from a swap with a friend. There was writing on the cover but the art and story were so cool, and I had never seen these "X-Men" before. Biked to the store the next day and found the current issue (#132 w/ the Hellfire Club party/fight) and to my delight the the art and story was just as capitivating. I soon began looking for the back issues. The hunt was on.

Well done JB! I particularly like the Cyclops vs Sasquatch portion of the piece.

Back again! Came back from the grocery store to find the cable company people working on one of the poles down the street. Whatever was wrong with my internet connection, they seem to have fixed it.For now. Don't think I'll cancel that service call, tho!

Love how Cyclops looks in this piece! I'm not a native Calgarian, but I'll take a stab at the origin of the title having something to do with the Calgary Stampede. You see alot of white cowboy hats in their parade.

Yeah - I remembered the battle at the Calgary Stampede (and even though I didn't "get" the reference, I was able to put 2 + 2 together (actually it was more like "X-Men" + "Alpha Flight" + "rodeo" = "Calgary Stampede"), but it's been years since I had read the story. But, yeah, Shaman didn't seem to use the Totems too often, did he? Thanks for posting those pages, William!

The white stetson is Calgary's link to its frontier Past. Visiting celebs are presented with such bonnets. When my Dad was City Clerk he handed out a whole passel of 'em. Hm. Sorry. I seem to be lapsing into drugstore cowboy speak!

I remember that story very well. I will never forget the story that goes with those issues. My copies are signed. Mr. Byrne was totally cool to my buddy and myself. We babbled on about how much more we loved his FF stuff than his X-Men work. Someone posted that JB's Colossus is the best interpretation of the character. I totally agree. The only artist who would be even close to JB's Colossus is Paul Smith. He did a real nice Collossus.

I'll never forget that scene. It was from the first issue that I read of Uncanny X-Men. Great commission. Sasquatch has never looked more fierce!
