I recall that fight too.  I read those issues later, after I'd already started collecting Alpha Flight and was filling in gaps in my X-Men collection.  Great stuff!

Very cool piece, JB!  Always happy to see you draw Alpha Flight.

Very cool. I don't remember because it's on of the few issues I'm missing from that run.(even my Classic X-men issues too)

Strange thing -- 30+ years of drawing Colossus, and every time I find myself thinking How is this guy a mutant? After all these years, I still can't satisfy myself that there is a "realistic" way his mutation could work. If he just turned into "living metal" I'd have no problem -- but it's the articulation! Feels like >shudder< "intelligent design"!

Seems to be a problem with most of the all new all different (maybe thats where the title is from) X-men, and started the trend to some really dumb powers in recent characters.

Love the totems!  And the composition between Wolverine, the totem, and Sasquatch.

Strange, I don't recall reading this issue.  There were a number in the late-110s/early-120s that I missed back in the day, but I thought I had eventually read everything. Time to dig out the "40 years of X-Men" DVD!

Great commission. Mr. Byrne, I've always liked how you can draw several characters engaged in battle, but also make the individual characters shine, too.

My best friend's mother bought him this issue at a comic shop in 1986. He put it up in a game of pool in my parent's basement and I almost had it but choked at the end of the game. He won a very nice collection of Amazing Spider-Man. I eventually got the issue anyway when he let me cherry pick his collection before he sold it. Ah memories......

Love the wintry weather effects in the background. Awesome Sasquatch (although my eyes automatically see him as white here...which is strange, as everyone is in black and white). Being shot in the chest by Cyclops? Ouch!

...I don't think we've ever seen Shaman's powers manifested that way...

Of course! In fact, for years I remembered that Alpha Flight/X-Men
confrontation as being the first JB-drawn comicbook I'd ever read! (More
recently, I've realized that it was probably POWER MAN #48.
