That's the problem with experiments -- no way to know if they're going to work!!

It was actually one of the only few times that I didn't care for the results of the experiment. But I'm guessing that neither did JB, because only a few months later he tweaked the style just a bit further that seemed to "gel" much better.

I think artists are forever evolving, Vinny "tweaked" is exactly what I think happens. Even on a smaller scale when I do my bears which the numbers are just in the hundreds, each time I make one, I tweak my pattern from the previous bear because of something I didn't completely like.

It's amazing how some guys can take a conversation about lost Byrne art and use it to brag about touching breast. Over compensation about some insecurity I would think.

That art is cool. I love Planet of the Apes and it's a shame JB didn't get a story in the mags. It would have looked great in B&W.

Well, it's fantastic, as an Apes fan, to finally have the backstory to this.I'm not aware of any more of this art, but I will certainly ask around.Part of me is sorry it's not part of a lost Apes saga, but, actually, the pictures themselves look pretty epic anyway. Was this something you just created from scratch,John, or was there ANY editorial hint? It's great that John Byrne is part of our Ape Universe and the thought of just how cool this series would have looked is making me smile wistfully.John.

Oooooh, I love those POTA magazines. I don't think I'd ever part with them.

Hey - didn't I read somewhere that IDW currently has the rights to the franchise? JB - any interest in telling tales in that milieu?

About those early concepts(Kadaver, etc.), have you thought about reimagining them for new series, JB?

It would be good to see JB do more simian stuff. I still miss Grunt (and
Nudge.)
