*launches rumour mill*

When I saw the Superman/Muhamad Ali reprint, my retailer said he thinks Neal demands they be recoloured.

True dat! Heartbreaking to see those volumes done so perfectly, while other work that would look great handled the same way gets the gloss-paper and airbrushed recoloring.

They (Marvel in particular) use the same color dot matrix negatives that they once had for an completely different kind of paper. If the same paper isn't made anymore I rest my case but they pick some glossy or different paper that even doesn't come close. If Kodachrome 64 isn't made for my camera I would pick something similar Ekteachrome 50-100 not another kind of film completely. It's as if I use your Pitt pens and draw on toilet paper and expect the same result.

I have always had a problem with the coloring on the Adams reprints. Nice to know I'm not alone.

I've also heard that Adams requests the recoloring. While I'm just
speculating, it looks like Adams' studio Continuity does the work.
There books have a distinctive coloring look to them. The Batman
volumes have that same feel.

On Adams' website, Neal's daughter Kris often mentions that Continuity does the color separations on the DC reprints.  In fact, if I recall, on the first volume of the Batman reprints, Neal was upset that DC's budget would not cover re-coloring of the entire contents -- which is why it was half-recolored and half flat-colored.  Better they should have saved their money and gone all-flat.

Sigh! In B&W, it would´ve looked perfect!

I hunted down the TITAN Neal Adams reprints, but the grail is JB´s oversized German collection.

I wonder if a future She-Hulk volume might include the graphic novel.

Actually, I was kind of miffed that the Fantastic Four Visionaries didn't include JB's She-Hulk graphic novel, as it took place during that run.

••

A pretty random selection of Neal's Batman work, including some of his very early WORLD'S FINEST issues. There is, as I recall, at least one Irv Novick issue in there for story continuity -- a nice touch.

The real attraction of the volume, tho, is the glorious BLACK AND WHITE. Printed oversized, as it is, it is ALMOST like looking at the original pages. (Altho, ironically, the reprodction is particularly bad, for some reason, on two pages that I actually OWN!)
