You do NOT want "cheap" frames for original art, trust me. This stuff is fragile, and even the best paper and ink can yellow and fade if not properly taken care of.

Not the best picture, but I own this "jam sketch" by 3 of the JSA artists (Leonard Kirk, Steve Sadowski, and Don Kramer):

Cost me a grand total of $0.  Well, actually, it cost me a trip to Toledo for a JSA gathering over a weekend.  The above drawing was part of a raffle.  There's an inked version of this by Jerry Ordway that someone else owns.

RE: Cheap frames.

What JB said.
Also, UV protected glass is pennies-on-the-dollar insurance.
Get that if you can.

Peter, I have used frameitagainsam and have always been very happy with their made-to-order and specification frames. I tend to use these frames to rotate artwork, so that I have a continual montage of the art I've collected over the years. That said, the super important pieces get professionally framed.

Hi all

Sorry to resurrect this thread - just snooping around, and saw that someone else's first page was from Zoids UK (David Teller on the first page of this thread).  This was mine:

http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=439864&am p;GSub=69036

I didn't think there was anyone else out there who collected that stuff - as you can see, I've got quite a lot of the Zoids work.  If David sees this and wants to drop me a line (or anyone can put me in touch with him) I'd be more than willing to make a very fair money/trade offer for any zoids pages.  My email address is my username with no gaps at yahoo dot co dot uk.

I'd love a Byrne Superman or Next Men page in the future - one of the latter just went on ebay for a reasonable price, but I forgot to bid...

Best, and sorry to pop in like this,

Marcus

Sorry to resurrect this thread…

•••

Not a problem. Threads like this often last a long, long time! I considered setting it so that it would not lock automatically, in fact, as threads do when they go without activity for a while.

After all, just as "every issue is the first issue for somebody", there will (I hope) ever and always be people picking up that first piece of original art!

Kevin: My first purchases. At Orlando Megacon from Jim Warden.

I loved Generations and Johns approach to the art during this period in his career.

(Sadly have since sold these and some other treasures to finance my daughters Princess collection. Curses to you Nathan Greno.)

---

I remember when you bought those! :)

I'm very jealous when I see all these comic book pages, especially the Byrne ones.

I don't own any original art page. But I've been a Byrne fan for more than two decades now and waited till 2009 to treat myself with a specific commission: two characters from 1991, my favorite JB year (haven't gotten over OMAC and 2112). Does it count for 'original art'?

It's an original and it's art!

It's also *unique* original art: no one owns a printed version of it!

(aside from printed from the computer, I suppose...)

Great looking commission, Joss. One of my favorites.
