I am a bit shocked that the header was not on an overlay on that ASM cover.

••

Do you mean this in the sense of not actually being pasted onto the art?

If so, that was very rare. Most work was done directly on the art, cutting, pasting, whiting-out, you name it. That was simply the way of the world, back then. Ten feet away from me, as I sit at the computer here, I have a Joe Kubert OUR ARMY AT WAR cover, and the logo is pasted directly onto the art. (Unlike the Kane/Romita piece, the dialog ballons are lettered on the art, not paste-ups.)

Agree with JB on Kane/Romita as the best art team on Spider-Man!

This is the first piece of comic art I purchased. Mid-Ohio-Con 2004

My first actual page was from "The Flash" and features Green Arrow and
Speedy quite prominently.I'll post it later if you guys want to see it.

First piece was John Romita Sr.'s back cover for the Essential Spider-Man #5.  Nice shot of Spider-Man leaping and getting ready to spin a web.  I couldn't find a scan of it online, but you should be able to see it on Amazon.

As for interior art, you've got to start with the best (at his most affordable):

It was a Christmas present from my wife, probably five years ago.

Abraham! I love all the art from Legends. I have a few pages from the series
and I also noticed that many of the word balloons' glue lost their stickiness
and fell away.
I was lucky and saved my word balloons and re-glued them back on.

My first purchases. At Orlando Megacon from Jim Warden.

I loved Generations and Johns approach to the art during this period in his career.

(Sadly have since sold these and some other treasures to finance my daughters Princess collection. Curses to you Nathan Greno.)

I deeply envy Steven for his page from Superman #9.

Really.

Regarding frames for 11 X 17 original art....are there any places to get cheap frames like Wally Mart so that I can get my originals out of the portfolio and up on a wall?
