oh, and if you love original comic art pages, be sure to check out Mr. Simonson's Facebook page. He's been uploading his ORIGINAL Surtur Saga, done in 1970! While in RISD!

 QUOTE:
Carmine Infantino will be at the Cincinnati comic con this
September. You can make it! Come on!!!

It is so unfair. You Americans get all the conventions. Will be in China in
September.

I doubt he will be doing drawings and sketches though, since they turned me
down. If he does, then I am very confused.

What a place to start a collection! This was the luckiest original art find I'll ever be part of.

Back in the 90s, a friend called and asked me if I knew anything about comic book art. She told me that several years ago she had bought something from a comic called "Swamp Thing" at auction at a sci fi convention because she knew her boyfriend had liked the comic, and thought it would be a nice birthday gift. She had it framed, but they broke up before she had a chance to give it to him. Years later, she was packing up for a cross-country move and found it in the back of a storage closet.

I was expecting to see a con sketch, so you can imagine my reaction when she showed me this page. She didn't want to deal with ebay or going to conventions. I told her how much I could afford to pay and that it's probably worth 3 times that. She said "sold," and I was the proud owner of Swamp Thing, Arcane, and a whole bunch of Un-Men.

Regarding buying original art, you can also check places like Catskill Comics, which represents Ron Frenz, Mike Grell, Ramona Fradon and several other artists. And check eBay, but only buy from dealers on there unless you're willing to take the risk. Catskill Comics sells items on eBay, as does Antarctic Press, for example. (I got the page I posted from Catskill Comics off eBay, not their website)

So my first pick up back in '03 or '04 I think was The Brave and The Bold issue 177, page 17. Batman and Elongated Man. Great page, Aparo penciled, inked and lettered this one.

••

Excellent page, Brad! Well done!

Another great page!

I also have a Wrightson SWAMP THING page, from the Batman issue. A real treasure of my collection. Ask Jim Warden how many times he has tried to persuade me to part with it!!

Now that you mention it, I did catch him once measuring the distance between where the piece hangs on my Studio wall and the front door!
