John, I was wondering, since you said that upon your father's death the title Lord Rushton passed on to you, was there any kind of official procedure you had to follow or recognition from the British government?•• First, we're not entirely sure it HAS passed to me, technically. I am an American citizen, and American citizens cannot hold titles in other lands (unless they are strictly honorary, like Reagan's knighthood). So the title is basically floating out there in the ozone, somewhere. Is it mine? Has it simply evaporated? Well, doesn't matter, really, as I can still trot it out for a bit of fun from time to time! More immediate to your question, tho, the title is what's known as a "noncorporeal hereditament" -- which means it's JUST a title. No lands, no manor house, no seat in the Lords. So, nothing with which the British Government needs to concern itself. Dad left the title to me in his will, just to be sure, but other than that, no "paperwork".
