"Hulme", incidentally, was my mother's maiden name. Didn't think I could really get away with calling him "Frank Byrne"!!

Marilyn was the name of Dad's chief secretary at City Hall.

Yes. Dad was the Canadian Government official who brought Mac Hudson "into the fold" in ALPHA FLIGHT.

*************************************

"Frank" was your father's first name, was "Hulme" your mother's maiden name or just a name you thought up?

EDIT:  Gah, JB was reading my mind as I was typing that out....

HA!

I had no idea! That's fun, JB :)

What was your dad's reaction to seeing himself in a comic book??

John,

I am a creative type person, I tend to cope through the arts.

When a close friend passes on, I will either write a song, or draw a picture.

I don't know WHY exactly. I just do it.

We all cope in different ways, so, is there a channel you travel during tough times such as tomorrow?

Sincerely hoping this isn't too prying a question,

Joe

The Byrne family has always been very pragmatic about death. We don't hide from it, we don't disguise it. We accept it as a fact of life.

So, with my father having definitely lived a full and mostly happy life, I don't have any real "coping" to do. It's all about moving on.

My deepest condolences on your loss, sir.  I've been away and just now "heard" the news of your father's passing.

An odd thing to say, perhaps, but this thread has made me smile several times...the stories you tell about your father are full of warmth and gentle humour.  Thank you for sharing them with us.
