Available for pre-order from Amazon.

Of course, NuMarvel had to piss on it to make it theirs…

Original KIRBY cover…

While you're at it, guys, the Mona Lisa is in serious need of a mustache.

I bet there will be two versions of the cover.  Don't they usually let Alex Ross defecate all over one version and then have one with the original art?

I ordered the last week on previews the TPB "Tales of Asgard", and you can choose the cover: the original by Kirby or an apocryphal cover, I don't understand it, if you have the perfect cover why somebody would want a bad and ugly copy for the same price. ¬¬

What I don't understand is that most people buying these
Omnibuses featuring creators like Kirby, probably are a
fan not only of the creator, but the time period. Modern
covers on things like this from artists in no way
connected with the period kind of baffle me, too.

Now I'm sure this is a variant, which is fine, but not
even if other Cap great had a variant--JB, Mike Zeck, John
Buscema, whoever, would I choose it over Kirby's landmark
cover.

I ordered my copy from DCBS with the original Kirby cover.
I never get the "new" covers they slap on those things.
The Kirby cover is considered the variant for the DM only.
How the original cover could be considered a variant is beyond me.

Either way, they cost the same.

I just looked this up about an hour ago myself. Amazon appears to
only have the variant cover. The second volume of this comes out
next year. It's available for pre-order as well. It's the one with the Mad
Bomber cover.

Looking at the variant cover above, it's probably the only time I'm not
happy to see Ron Garney draw Captain America.

I'd get the version with the original cover. It's more "powerful" to me.

I think it's a great cover, though one wonders why Cap is
so pissed off. Maybe he's saying "How dare you redesign
Kirby's origin, solder!"

What is the point of redrawing a classic cover?
