I like that 1975 one JB. Any other pics of it?

You need one like a Firebird but with a bat on the hood.

JB: This one?---- Sort of. I'm sure it's the same model, but I saw it on the cover to 1999's Big Easy Con program book. I pretty sure the particular image is in the gallery. In any case, that's the Batmobile I was referring to. It's definitely my favorite.

found an article on a car that could have been and wasn't, except the concept car that sold for 3.2 million. But, some black paint and who knows? As light as it was in '54 with a 250 hp v-b, it would've ran pretty good. and this fullsize prototype has a "batmobile" look to it.

Michael, are those two pictures different versions of the same concept? They have totally different lines.

Indeed -- the car in the first picture is the 1954 Oldsmobile 88 showcar. From the back it looked like this:Those fins on the back bumper give it an extra dash of Batmobile, don't they? The other car is also from '54, but it's the Cutlass Starfire. 1954 was a year for some interesting designs. Check out the Buick Wildcat (by Harley Earl, no less!). And from the same year, this Mercury... Note, that IS the BACK!! The front looked like this:

Oops! Sorry! Just realized Stephen's query was posed directly to Michael!

JB that '54 Wildcat is incredible! It looks like a Merry Melodies car: you could almost imagine it "coming to life" and trying to take a bite out of someone. The seats even look like cartoon eyes in that photo.

JB, that Mercury design looks a lot like what became the Montclair in 1955.

A similar profile, but the more, uhm, expressive elements didn't make it into the production model! Too bad!

Harley Earl was involved in the 54 Olds F 88 as well! And as JB mentioned, the Starfire is indeed a different car altogether. Check out the instrument cluster on the F 88, down the center, it just oozes "futuristic design".

'54 was prolific in potential even if they never made it to the showroom. Imagine this one in black? ( Pontiac Bonneville, again '54.)
