A telling comment in one of the posts: "If Batman had been fighting crime in the 40s, that's what the freaking Batmobile would have looked like." Always good to be reminded that the Rest of the World doesn't know what we know!

I'm sure this is what Batman would be jumping in front of missles with in real life. Actually, it looks like Robin's car with those colors.

My reaction is always the same when I set eyes on these type of beauties: Why build a car that's so beautiful that the only proper place for it is your living room -- away from weather, wear and tear, vandals, thiefs, and bird droppings? Although I could see the davantages of a home-bound drive-in for purposes of reckless necking, heavy petting, and any such diversions.

Jesus, I think that falls right into the category of "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" category. Don't get me wrong, I have the very same thoughts but it just illustrates how a normal person would not be the target for these types of cars.
Batman's rich. He wouldn't think twice about any of these beauties getting scratched or pooped on or whatever. And there are plenty of richies out there with Bruce Wayne type money--they just don't happen to be masked vigilantes in their spare time.

I think Jesus is on to something. While I certainly admire
the aesthetic qualities of some of these cars, I wouldn't
blow money on these things even if I were a billionaire.
Cars and trucks have always been nothing more than conveyances to me.Part of me wishes I could get into cars and trucks more
than I am, but I'm afraid it's too late in the game for
that.

Really like the 1955 Alfa Romeo B.A.T. 9d. I think in it's day it could have made a cool Batmobile.Although the Barris 60's version is a classic, I'd take the 1950's Batmobile over just about any version out there. It has similar lines as the 40's version, but sleeker. JB's computer model of it is excellent.

I, too, have a great fondness for this vintage Batmobile, with its "bubble top" and massive single fin. One small modification I felt compelled to add to how it was drawn in the comics was an actual indication on the dome of where the DOORS were! Some of you may recall I made this model as part of a series I ended up using in the second GENERATIONS.
