eh, Marc - the Mark IV was my idea.  Notice, on the same page, it also says: "...trying to find the next men in the evolutionary line"  I tossed in a few sly references to JB's later career here and there.

I thought that "next men" reference was an in-joke.

Very good, obviously a lot of hard work and loving care was put into this. Could there be a sticky made with bigger scans? (after all the tweaks are made)

The sticky part is up to JB and the moderators.

As for bigger scans, since various pages were worked on by various artists, I'm not sure if we all worked at the same size on our original inks and colors. I printed the pages that I inked out on letter-size paper and inked them. I then scanned them back into the computer and then colored them. I had most of the pages I prepared for the web shrunk to 10 inches at 72 DPI, and lettered at that resolution. I think the pages lettered by F. Ron that were drawn by others also may have been about that size, but we'd have to ask him about that. The pages I lettered that were drawn by others were all about 10 inches/72 DPI.

To make it easier to load up, and to keep from using too much web space, I shrunk all the pages to 9 inches at 72 DPI.

It may be possible to make larger scans than 10 inches of all the pages, but probably not without some re-lettering and some other changes to what is done now.

Thanks to everyone for all the kind words. I know I appreciate it, and I am sure everyone involved with the challenge does, too. I am glad that so many people liked the idea of the challenge I presented enough to put so much work and effort into it. It has been really cool to see all the wonderful work by so many of my talented fellow posters on the board. It may have taken awhile, but I'd like to think it's been worthwhile now that it's finished.

I'd like to state again that I appreciate JB allowing us to do this to begin with. It was fun to help finish the story he started so long ago. It was also very cool to have a chance to ink his artwork. It makes you appreciate his work all the more.

A small correction.

In a caption on page 19, scripter Mike O'Brien wrote:
"IT EXISTS, PERFECTLY, ON THE EXACT
OPPOSITE
SIDE OF THE SUN, ROTATING
IN PERFECT SYMMETRY WITH OUR PLANET.
THIS OTHER, OR COUNTER-EARTH, IS
WHERE THIS CRYSTAL APPEARS TO BE FROM."

An object rotates on an axis. If Counter-Earth is rotating in perfect symmetry all that means is that it turns on it's axis once every twenty-four hours, just like Earth -- presumably with each part of the globe in the same relative position to the sun, so when it's morning in Earth's New York, it would also be morning in Counter-Earth's New York.

One usually speaks of a planet revolving around the sun, since "revolve" means to "go around a central point". Unfortunately, "revolve" can also be used to mean "turn on an axis", so it's usage can be confusing.

Think of it this way:
   "rotate" equals "spin"
   "revolve" equals "go around"

I think a better wording would be "revolving in perfect symmetry..." or, to avoid all ambiguity, "orbiting in perfect symmetry...".

Just a suggestion.

(Yes, it may seem like nitpicking, but that's what proofreading is all about.)

Regards,

Zoran

Ah!  Thus my degree in History, not science - good catch!  I'm glad to have that corrected!

Thanks much, sir!
