ASM 276: Kingsley frames Flash Thompson then retreats from crime til "Hobgoblin Lives" 10 years later

ASM 289: Ned Leeds revealed to be Hobgoblin. It was my first comic book in English!!

SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN 261: Kingsley vs Norman Osborn! Kingsley retires in the Carribean. LAST appearance in Marvel continuity (1997!!)

SPIDER-GIRL 97: Kingsley returns in the MC2 Spider-Girlverse continuity. Seen in the 2nd vol. of SG in virtually every single following issue! Handled by De Falco, Frenz annnnnnnd Sal Buscema!

     My recollection was of Ned Leeds being revealed as the Hobgoblin, after getting killed by rogue Soviet agents in that Spider-Man & Wolverine team-up one shot back in the late 80s.  I had been on the verge of dropping Marvel for the first time back then, and just the fact that they tied this in with Wolverine, of all characters, was a part of what prompted me to do so.

     Looking back at that, it's probably back in those days that this whole trend of oversaturation of certain characters, and the "events" sidelining what would've been intriguing subplots that used to drive my interest in certain titles began to take hold.
