My very first comic book in English was ASM 289 in which Ned Leeds is revealed to be Hobgoblin!!

I never minded Roger Stern's "Hobgoblin Lives!" mini as it was very well done and believable.

I heard Hobgoblin is back in ASM in November but I doubt it's Roderick Kingsley.

Tom De Falco made me more than happy when he brought back the character in the late Spider-Girl series.

Ditko recently wrote in one of his essays that the Green Goblin was going to be a member of J Jonah Jameson's businessmen's club, and that his son had the same hairstyle and went to college with Peter.

Steve Ditko in an essay said he had every intention of making the Green Goblin Norman Osborn.  (He appeared unnamed somewhere in the 20s in Jonah's businessman club + Norman was acting pretty weird in the Mendell Stromm story (#37?).)

I thought I read that the claim of the disagreement between Stan and Steve about the Green Goblin's identity was Stan misremembering the reason Steve left.

Or I could be misremembering.

...Ned Leeds.

But why would Ned Leeds--a decent guy and newspaper reporter for years--turn out to be a murdering criminal mastermind?

I pretty much skipped the Hobgoblin stuff between Stern leaving the book and Stern finishing the story.

I feel rather good about that.

I was in a state of denial when #289 revealed Ned Leeds was the Hobgoblin and later getting killed because Flash Thompson was set up being Hobgoblin as well.  Roger Stern had a good hand with the Spider-Man universe and Ron Frenz really complimented his run.

I don;t think Ron Frenz was on the book with Stern.  I think JRJR was with Stern, and Frenz was with Defalco.  Good Spider-Man comics all around though.

Frenz did "The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man" with Stern and Stern's last two issues were as plotter of which Frenz did breakdowns and DeFalco did the script.

And add me to the list of those that DID NOT like Ned being the Hobgoblin.
