Thanks for the link, Mikael. Yeah, I don't see much point in changing Phoenix's costume. He's already been through two costumes in the original series. It's not like he has a long and storied history... at this point, there isn't much to him besides the concept and the costume, so why get rid of one.

Not a fan of the new Phoenix suit either... maybe it's because the alien writings that wrap across its surface actually flow across his armpit...

I have a few of these. I actually enjoyed Tiger-Man, the Destructor, the Scorpion and the Grim Ghost. Never read PLANET OF VAMPIRES but thought it sounded like a cool idea.I wonder what took so long...

I do have a complete set of all of the Atlas titles; albeit there were not that many comics. Steve,Do you have the magazines also? I've read they are quite hard to come by.

Paul- I should have made clear that I have a complete run of their color comics. Now, the magazine line is a whole diffrent story. I have both issues of "Weird Tales of the Macabre" and both issues of "Devilina." I do not have any issues of "Thrilling Adventure Stories" and one issue of "Movie Monsters" and as for "Gothic Romances"...yeah right! I have only seen one copy of that in 20-25 years and the price the dealer was asking was far way too much I wanted to pay for a Romance comic. I have a feeling a comic like "Gothic Romances" is one of those books that I will find one day at a flea market or garage sale for some like a $1.00.

use core concepts and this could be incredibly fun.....grim ghost far and away being the best idea of them all in my opinion.....but tiger man, man-monster, the tarantula, iron jaw, .......i loved me those cheesey atlas books, they just have cool titles!

PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES wasn't very vampiric, or very good. In the world of funny books, having a title promising "vampires" and then making that designation more emblematic than specific, and you have wasted an opportunity. I want to see the return of POLICE ACTION with Lomax NYPD and Luke Malone: Manhunter. Also the Tarantula could be intriguing if you thought of him as a fusion of Hellboy and the Shadow.

As a kid, the second issue of Morlock 2001 disturbed me greatly, from the Clockwork Orange style thugs to the creeping fungus and the death of the little girl, that was a deeply unpleasant comic. Makes me vaguely ill recalling it. Finding out that it was a Michael Fleischer script would not surprise me. I found other Atlas books later, Chaykin's Scorpion being my favorite. My favorite Atlas cover is this one, however. Phoenix vs. Cyclops: The Untold Story! ![](uploads/BrianHague/2010-09-15_221858_61162720478_4.gif)

The only Atlas book I read at the time was Grim Ghost. I loved that series, and I still consider it one their best books. Really fine artwork by Ernie Colon. I remember paging through other titles on the stands but when the time came to select what book I was going to buy I always went with something else.
In the years since I've bought up almost everything they did. The Destructor was very well-done. And I'm with Chad, Police Action is one of my favorites.
That Morlock 2001 story was messed up. I'm sure glad I didn't read it when I was eight. Fleisher has written a great deal of morally ambigous and disturbing stories over the years, but I'd say that one was the single most disturbing thing he ever wrote.
